BJL was formed originally in 1993 and its focus, at that time, was on the United States (U.S.) and Canadian Financial Services & Investment Banking industries. Since that time, and over the last fifteen plus years, the firm has become heavily concentrated in the U.S. Mortgage Banking and Real Estate industries, working with all forms of entities involved with U.S. residential, and commercial, real estate assets, and loans, with a further micro-focus on the distressed asset and/or non-performing loan markets.
Through this micro-focus BJL has established itself as a premier strategic partner with its advisory services having a focused concentration on the client experience across the spectrum of services offered by law firms in the Mortgage Banking and Default Services spaces. Also, we have established a wide array of strategic partnerships, and clients, that we advise within the mortgage originator, servicer & investor spaces as well as the plethora of service providers thereto (i.e., law firms, trustee companies, title insurance companies, settlement services providers, escrow agents, technology concerns, etc.). This has also been expanded into the mergers & acquisitions arena (of which we have a long history in back to 1993) due to the market forces in these default services markets the last few years which are making law firms, and other service providers, look more closely at their options in terms of strategic alliances and/or mergers or sales of operations.
